One of the first things that Hitler did when he seized power was to impose strict gun registration requirements that enabled him to identify gun owners and then to confiscate all guns...effectively disarming his opponents and paving the way for the Holocaust.

But if you go back a little further you will find that following Germany's defeat in World War I... the Weimar Republic passed very strict gun control laws...laws that in fact required the surrender of all guns to the government...these laws remained in effect until 1928...

Gun registration laws have been passed in California...if you own an assault weapon...(AR-15...AK...etc...) it must be registered...

The gun-control folks love to toss around the argument that the founding fathers didn't intend the second amendment to mean that ordinary citizens should be armed. To counter this I give you one of my favorite quotes;

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks. - Thomas Jefferson

I like this one...

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is...as a last resort...to protect themselves against tyranny in government. - Thomas Jefferson

It's easy enough to get ahold of a gun . . .

All the gun control laws in the world aren't going to protect us from a
fellow like this one who took out all these people the other day. Do those
of us who have concealed weapons permits need more laws? What good
are more laws for law abiding citizens going to do? It's those outside of
the law, who don't care about the law that we have to worry about, right?
Appropriate laws are already in place, they just need to be enforced,
perhaps, and perhaps revised to serve us better, but more?, how's that
going to help anything? Just sayin' I always carry my gun, and permit

guns arent the issue at all. its peoples inherit selfishness and not wanting to be bothered with something or someone that they think doesnt directly effect them. you always now when somebody is a dangerous disturbed creep if you are at all observant and just give a shit

I got an email yesterday, posed a good question/statement:
Did any one think to point out that school zones are gun free zones?
Easy killings for anyone who enters that area since the honest people with consealed carry license will not have theirs.

What a dumbass I am. I've not paid attention to gun free zones. I go into
places all the time carrying and never stopped to consider that concealed
weapons were to be left behind. DOH! I walk the edge there, living
dangerously. Not in the sense of possibly being shot, but jailed and fined.

Funnier note (just to lighten it up in here a bit) As you may know, I work at an airport and I play paintball. Sometimes I keep my gear in the trunk of the car and someone will want to see it - I become very nervous showing someone what would appear to be an M-16.
